Nowadays, many people think self-care requires travel, a nice restaurant, an expensive spa, shopping, or some costly activity (many people ironically want one you can post on Instagram). However, the truth is, expanding what you consider self-care and finding ways to build that into your schedule can empower you to be the best version of yourself, which affects how you interface with God. My definition of self-care involves anything that helps me grow as a person. That includes, but is not limited to:
- Breathing exercises (most notably, the Wim Hof Method)
- Reading
- Meditation/Prayer
- Exercise
- Writing/blogging/creating
- Yoga
- Eating healthy
- Watching documentaries/listening to podcasts
- Essential oil & Epsom Salt baths
- Cold showers
- Sauna time & cold plunges
- Hiking
- Beach time
- Intimacy
- Grooming
After growing up Christian and being around Christians my entire life, I believe many lessons can be learned from the Bible. However, I have seen plenty of evidence suggesting it is not God’s inerrant word nor a book to be taken literally. For example, even though many more scriptures were written about that set of beliefs, the books of the Bible today were hand selected by the Council of Nicea. Every translation and update since then shows further manipulation to advance narratives each time a new version is released. I believe God is not a specific being but a frequency in the universe (love, the universal language) embedded in all living beings and can manifest itself in many ways – and I can point to many verses in The Bible that suggest that (1 John 4:16-18, for example).
The pineal gland, or third eye chakra, is our center of consciousness and intuition. The chakra system is the energy body residing inside the physical body that impacts different parts of our physical, mental, and emotional being. The previously mentioned intuition is how God speaks to us, and the previously listed self-care activities all improve the general function of the energy body. Each chakra affects us slightly differently, but the energy body produces a vibrating field in your immediate surrounding environment – your aura, also known as your Merkaba (for a better understanding of what it is, read “The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life,” by Drunvalo Melchizedek). When the energy body functions well, your Merkaba emanates and positively impacts people. In this state, like a candle lighting another, you can help strengthen the aura of those closest to you.
In Abrahamic religions like Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Rastarianism, and others, the Star of David represents a 2D version of the Merkaba, which is two tetrahedron-shaped energetic vibrations overlapping each other surrounding our physical body as seen below:
In my opinion, to Love God means several things if God is an energy of pure love in all of us. Loving God would require one to love themselves, and everyone else since God is in all of us. That translates to several things:
- Expressing gratitude for everything you have
- Becoming the best version of ourselves
- Searching for the beauty in everything
- Spreading love, connecting with, and inspiring people
- Making a positive impact on the world through creation or improving what’s here
When one’s Merkaba achieves a specific strength, it can supposedly be activated. According to the previously mentioned book, The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life, and various interpretations of ancient readings, strengthening your Merkaba to the point of full activation can unlock other abilities, including empowering your conscious to contact and experience other dimensions/realities during deep meditative states or when sleeping, which many believe helps you access divine knowledge or help you advance toward your goals. For those familiar with The Book of Enoch (which I summarized some highlights of here), many believe the story of Enoch ascending to heaven is a Biblical interpretation of Enoch activating his Merkaba to travel between dimensions.
An entire medical field has been dedicated to healing people using the energy body and holistic techniques – Integrative Medicine (1). “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, provides detailed scientific explanations about how the energy body can similarly impact the environment once the chakras are activated through the Merkaba. My self-care routine is specifically designed to balance my chakras, power up my spiritual body, and love God in all the previously mentioned ways.
