About Diamond

As a Haitian American born in Florida who moved to Ohio before returning, Diamond experienced firsthand how diet, routine, and environment affect your physical and mental health. While living in Ohio, she attained a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Ohio University to pursue her dream of using the media to improve mental health across the country.

However, while living there, she noticed the severity and frequency of seasonal sickness increased as she existed on the modern American diet. Towards the end of her time there, she began struggling with depression and gastrointestinal ailments.

Turning Point

She quickly realized that before helping others, she had to ensure she embodied the state she wanted to help others achieve. Her journey started with going to therapy, then changing her environment, returning to Florida, and doing inner work to figure out the root causes of her depression.

After seeing tremendous benefits from that, she began working on her body’s ailments through increasing her water intake, intermittent fasting, and starting the journey of switching from a traditional Haitian diet to eating healthier.

First, ditching red meat, then leaving behind chicken, pork, and other land animals, and then going pescatarian combined with intermittent fasting helped her lose weight but did not provide the gastrointestinal benefits she was looking for.

Then, switching to a vegetarian diet and adding exercise to her routine eliminated the need for the over-the-counter medication she previously had to rely on from time to time.  Currently, she is still building momentum and improving her diet and recently began exploring how meditation, yoga, and controlled breathing exercises can help her achieve her physical and mental goals.

Mission and Current Work

Aside from the personal changes, professionally, Diamond has had a thriving career. She and her team were awarded an Emmy by The Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences for their work on a Sexual Assault newscast. She is now mastering her craft by freelance writing for Atlanta Black Star and other publications.

Here at Ascension Media Club, she is excited to use her talent to help people improve their physical and mental health and interpersonal relationships by sharing her story and others like it. She will also highlight underreported and new data surrounding holistic healing.
